Education and Child Care
Regarding child care, Rovaniemi English Playschool (www.englishplayschool.fi) is a private, association based playschool. Its functions follow the normal day care routines, with an international perspective. The main language used is English, and Finnish as a support to help understanding.
The high-level education system of Finland has received enormous international acclaim, and is clearly evident in Rovaniemi. Comprehensive schooling (for children aged 7-16 years) is followed by further education either in regular high schools, vocational high schools or vocational colleges.
Students who have completed comprehensive education have opportunities to receive vocational education for a number of professions at the Lapland Vocational College.
In Rovaniemi it is possible to study for an English-language International Baccalaureate high school diploma. The University of Lapland and the Rovaniemi University of Applied Sciences are the nation’s leading higher education establishments for subjects such as art, ICT, cold climate technologies, tourism and financial management. Some of the curricula are in English.
